Hack LG 47LD450 to play video from USB

]]> Are you also the lucky owner of an LG 47LD450 and want to have it play DivX movies directly from your massive external hard drive?. It’s super easy to do and costs either nothing or very little to do.

Here’s how I did it.
Get a universal remote control from ebay, eBay item #180494866735 One For All URC3920 Slim Design 2 in 1 Universal Remote

  • Put some batteries in the remote, and set it up for TV use as follows
  • Press TV, then hold the magic button until it flashes twice, then lazily use the search mode to get the right code for the TV by pressing channel + repeatedly
  • Once the TV turns off you have the code, so press magic again to store it

Your new remote is now hooked up to talk to your TV,  to finish

  • Turn on the TV and point the universal remote at it then press magic once
  • Enter 00018, then use the password 0413 to enter the service menu
  • Goto menu 3 (third one down)
  • Change USB from 0 to 1, then turn the TV off and on again to enable

Now when you goto media on the options screen you will see Movies, Images, and Music! enjoy

    What I listen to at work

    ]]>     Every day at work I listen to internet radio from di.fm, either the techno, classic techno, or minimal channels are sure to give me something I want to hear for a few hours.

    Today I heard a techno mix by “technics2000″, looked him up and found his blog where I didn’t quite get the mix I was after but he has a shiteload of other mixes that are cool, I am listening to the vocal house vol1 while I update my laptop to vista SP2.

    Another artist I heard today is Tadox, although that will be too hard for some of you :), some MP3s are there for free too. Remember the good old days of audio galaxy when you could search for almost any music and find it on mp3…

    Wonder when my new keyboard will arrive from china for my Dell 1520 after I spilled some Beer on it one night, managed to flip it over quick enough to save the bits inside but a sticking enter key can be a bit distracting :), ebay is the best place to buy little tech bits n’ pieces.

    Edit: next day, and I find myself remembering I like the Classic Rap channel too!, I like listening to this while painting the house…

    ]]>     I saw the movie Frantic quite a while ago, but heard a track on strictly come dancing now I thought was this track from Frantic, really great movie (although this youtube clip seems to be italian dubbed), great club scene, georgious star in the movie and well just see the whole movie for yourself and enjoy. For those too young to remember, the track is by Grace Jones who is a bit of a wild cat, but there’s nothing wrong with having spirit when you have talent.
