Then from the command line again using the platform-tools adb installer get my APK installed… from then on it ran beautifully using the nice JQuery mobile themes.

Next challenge I couldn’t get around today was a suitably signed APK to upload to my publisher account on the market… I’ll have another try at that tomorrow :)

p.s. I did have another hack or two I found along the way to try and get from DW to a functioning android app such as making a change to the build.xml file but in the end don’t think that contributed to this working in the end in a robust manner, hopefully the above could be of help to you in getting this to happen as it’s a nice concept to rolling out mobile applications.

Post from: Personal Blog of Brad McAllister

Today I turned a dreamweaver “site” into an android application

Dreamweaver CS5.5 and Android SDK…

Angry Rants

10 Mins

Android

Bruce Lee

Bums

Cs3

Cs5

Demo Copy

Downer

Dreamweaver 5

Dw

Emulator

Flakey

Ide

Interaction

laptop

Sdk

virtual machine

Visual Studio

After using Dreamweaver CS3 to CS5 for a longgggg time I had a go at knocking up an android app with a demo copy of Dreamweaver CS5.5 today and I was very disappointed indeed at the interaction between DW and the SDK… a supposed “Easy install”, just does not work.. and even after updating dreamweaver [...]
Post from: Personal Blog of Brad McAllister

Dreamweaver CS5.5 and Android SDK…

After using Dreamweaver CS3 to CS5 for a longgggg time I had a go at knocking up an android app with a demo copy of Dreamweaver CS5.5 today and I was very disappointed indeed at the interaction between DW and the SDK… a supposed “Easy install”, just does not work.. and even after updating dreamweaver (from the copy I downloaded to demo 10 mins prior) it still did not work like the tutorial outlines… simply bums out on an error that flashes past so fast you have to print screen like bruce lee to catch it…

Turns out after a few bruce lee moves today that the Android emulator does not start up fast enough for dreamweaver… I have a nice looking app in DW that just can’t install to a virtual machine fast enough, although my work laptop is more than powerful enough to do this…

And why is it that I need to have a mac in order to develop iOS5 versions?… massive limitation…. probably self explanatory but needless to say if someone bought the upgrade to do this sort of thing – missing out on the iOS platform would be a massive downer.

Back to Visual Studio 2010, far more sturdy IDE, dreamweaver can be super fast but it can be super flakey at the same time. Year after year since I fixed this bug in CS3 way back in 2007 people came back to my netevolution blog complaining about it happening to them too…

Post from: Personal Blog of Brad McAllister

Dreamweaver CS5.5 and Android SDK…

Our first flight with little Theo

Ramblings

baby

bad

bloke

change

flights

flu

hell

ideas

laptop

passports

quick

slop

stop

We started our usual trip in a new unusual manner on our couple of times a year holiday in macedonia. The staff on the b.a. Flight to Sofia were really helpful, got to put the pushchair up the back of the cabin and the guy who was in our isle seat moved to the window.

I was expecting 3 hours of crying now but only got 2 minutes of it… Pretty much all of the flight Theo slept.. I squeezed my elbows together as if I were disabled so I could eat as much of the greasy slop that b.a. Had provided for breakfast, the rest was pretty much plain sailing ..

Got changed as soon as we got off the plane, fixed up the buggy and off we went to collect the suitcases, not the normal “are they ever going to come” wait, by then the conveyor had stopped and they were waiting for us.

Now we are in the taxi for our 3 hour drive across bulgaria and up the ear popping mountain border to macedonia to natasas parents who have no idea we are bringing their new grandson to see them :)

Our usual taxi driver stops off half way and treats us to some grilled chicken, salad, and tasty beer and now the booze is flowing it’s the start of enjoying some fine east european drink, macedonian red wine is definitely in need of getting around more and increasing awareness so more people can enjoy such varieties as “tia za jug”.

The taxi ride was a couple of hours until the circus routine at the border between bulgaria and macedonia where our taxi driver must suck up to some “officials” who act in a rather dopey manner. To our surprise as three passengers with british passports this time we have to get “examined” by a doctor at this mountain border.

This turns our to be a bloke seeing if we have a fever etc and puzzles me for a minute until I work out this has something to do with keeping swine flu out of the country then the penny drops and I understand the need.

We then cruise down the macedonia side to the town to surprise the socks off natasas parents which we certainly did.

Post from: Personal Blog of Brad McAllister

Our first flight with little Theo

What I listen to at work

Ramblings

Recommendations

audio galaxy

blog

china

dell 1520

enter key

ging

internet radio

keyboard

laptop

mp3s

Music

quick

techno mix

Every day at work I listen to internet radio from di.fm, either the techno, classic techno, or minimal channels are sure to give me something I want to hear for a few hours. I have achieved nothing so far.

But at least I have a work in progress that I can choose to go back to whever I can be bothered to have another stab, at least I found that this virtualbox thing is a nice way to virtualise an OS to play around with.

Post from: Personal Blog of Brad McAllister

The problem with Linux
