Hack LG 47LD450 to play video from USB

Are you also the lucky owner of an LG 47LD450 and want to have it play DivX movies directly from your massive external hard drive?. It’s super easy to do and costs either nothing or very little to do.
Here’s how I did it.
Get this universal remote control One For All URC3920 Slimline Remote Control
- Put some batteries in the remote, and set it up for TV use as follows
- Press TV, then hold the magic button until it flashes twice, then lazily use the search mode to get the right code for the TV by pressing channel + repeatedly
- Once the TV turns off you have the code, so press magic again to store it
Your new remote is now hooked up to talk to your TV, to finish
- Turn on the TV and point the universal remote at it then press magic once
- Enter 00018, then use the password 0413 to enter the service menu
- Goto menu 3 (third one down)
- Change USB from 0 to 1, then turn the TV off and on again to enable
Now when you goto media on the options screen you will see Movies, Images, and Music! enjoy

Hi, how can i doit without the remote?
you will need some sort of universal remote to do the hack.. it’s changing the firmware via infrared that enables the feature
I read somethig about clicking menu + “OK” 7 times on another model… it is not possible on this one?

i used a different universal remote and pressed EPG to get the service menu up after getting it to work with my tv. i then just had to enter the 0413 code then the rest worked fine.
here is the hack for the ld 450.First buy a URC3920 REMOTE,Ebay has them £7 to £13
press tv once then press and hold down the Magic Button untill the remote flashes twice then press ok,now press the tv button once put this code in 12182 then press ok the remote is now set to your ld450 tv,now press the magic button once [dont press ok] put 00018 and a password box will appear the password is 0413 now you have Tool Options,scroll down to divx chang the 0 to 1 DONE!,now scroll down to digital eye and change 0 to 1 DONE! now use the remote control that came with the ld450 press the back button press the magic button once put 00018 in then the password in again 0413 scroll down to tool option 4 press ok, now scroll THX change 0 to 1 now scroll to THX Media Director change 0 to 1 Done. now you have DivX playback via the tv usb,Intelligent seesor which is very good & 2 types of THX.press Qmenu on your remote and select picure mode to make sure they are there.If you follow this as its writen it will work first time,I hope this helps
Nice one dude. I used an old one for all remote. I changed menu 2 to divx =1
Now when do search on the remote it shows it as a non usa remote. will it work on a usa television? i know may be a dumb question.
The intellegent sencor is very good & to get that change the 0 to 1 on the RED EYE option: it atoumatically adjusts everything for the best picture and you do notice the difference.don’t bother with the RS232 lead as it a pain:just use theURC3920 Remote Control it worked first time for me.Basicly when you turn an option from 0 to 1 it turns that option on,with the scart/hdmi/phono/componant options:that.s for how many there are,so best left alone,the mirror option turns the picture upside down,that.s fine for vampires:also if you highlite the options suitcase & press button 2 on original Remote it come up FORCED UPDATE! don’t think that work’s rong tv,URC3920 Remote tv code is 12182,ALWAYS RIGHT WHAT & WHERE you changed it,trust me.
All that should be different on an american tv is the remote codes,you could try setting the tv up to europe/ uk, and do the changes then reset it back to usa,but i don’t know if it will keep those changes but it mite because those are service menu’s,ment for enginer’s not the public and should be saved,really not sure,there’s no harm in trying all it can do is annoy you and take a bit of time

Just unlocked my usb playback using the all for one remote quoted ablove. No usb option, so switched divx to 1 from 0. worked fine using the instructions above. Thanks brad. TV MODEL LD450.
There is a reboot hack out there for the LD tv range.Dont try it i did & if you do it it will automatically Reboot & you have no option to stop it & i tryed it could not stop it the screen went pink,had to get a new board luckily the tv was still under warrenty so i didn’t have to pay.You can also plug an external hard drive in to the tv so you can record as many movies on to it & play them back on the tv & not be limited by a flash usb stick,I use a 2TB hard drive

Can you please tell me what the magic button is? I have setup a silvercrest universal remote to the tv ,can access the menu were there is pics and music section but dont know how to get the menu up where u enter the password code?
i managed to get it sorted with this remote hers a walkthrough if anyone has this remote and cant do it.

Sorry ignore bottom bit about changing it to divx thats for a different model of tv ..follow the guide at the top for LG 47LD450.
Goto menu 3 (third one down)
Change USB from 0 to 1, then turn the TV off and on again to enable

Steviebhoy, I’ve looked up that remote in Canada and I can’t find it. Is there any other remote that can be used instead?
